4 month sleep regression-your experience?!

Hi all,
My little boy is 4 months in early Jan.
His sleep has definitely changed over the last few weeks with more frequent wake ups.
He won’t sleep for longer than 30 mins during the day in his crib so I have to hold him or sling him mainly (going to start a bit of gentle nap training after Christmas to see if I can build on this).

I only read absolute horror stories about it and never really hear of those who went through it but maybe it was just a few more night wakes etc.

I have bad PNA and I know there is absolutely zero I can do to stop it but I’m waking up feeling so anxious each day from what I have heard about it and thinking the absolute worse.

I just wondered what everyone’s experience was?

TIA

To be honest your baby’s sleep
changes all the time. You said in your post that your little ones sleep
has already changed. I honestly would try not to get to hung up on so called “sleep
regressions”. I think a lot of these terms are thrown about to worry parents so they spend a fortune trying to “fix” some very natural and normal baby developments. As a person with anxiety, I know this can be hard, to “just accept” but I have found this so much more helpful then sitting worrying about what might be coming next.
I have a nearly 11 month old, sleep has never been great and there is always a reason - teething, developmental leaps, new skills, separation anxiety etc. but some nights are fine. Try and concentrate on how you can get rest (cosleep, partner help, sleep when baby sleeps, relative help).
Baby sleep is weird but you will get through it xx

With my first, sleep regressions was something I only read / heard about.
They weren't a thing for us at all.

(My second is 12 weeks and his sleep has definitely gotten worse these past couple of weeks. I'm not saying it's a "regression" but whatever it is, I really hope it improves soon. I'm beyond broken!)

I had my DC 30 years ago, and sleep regression hadn't been invented then. Does anyone know when/who came up with the description?

I worried constantly about the 4 month sleep regression, pretty much since she was born and I heard about it (our baby has slept through the night since very early on)
She had one night of waking up at 3am wide awake, I managed to settle her back to sleep in the end with some shushing and patting and then surprisingly it never happened again.
if anything her naps started improving afterwards and she routinely has a long lunchtime nap now.
I wouldn’t worry about something that may never happen for you x
