Anyone have a Snoo bassinet for their baby? No idea what i’m doing!

Hi,

Baby is 3 week’s old. Bought one in the sale and it was delivered today. I’m a total technophobe and no idea what i’m doing. I have some questions if anyone can kindly help….

1 - I know I need to download a bloody app, but what settings shall I use? Terrified of her getting fully reliant on it so read something about weaning mode? If you have one, what settings do you use?

2 - The Snoo sacks that have come with it are very thin. Can you wear a gro bag/sleep bag underneath it? My daughter doesn’t like to be swaddled, she likes arms out in her gro bags. I’n worried she’ll be cold but also worried she’ll overheat? Room is approx 18 degrees. Can you buy thicker Snoo sacks?

3 - Can you use it for day time naps, but without them being swaddled? I want to distinguish night time sleep from day time sleep and would rather put her in it with a sleeping bag only and no Snoo sack/no motion at all for day time naps.

4 - What age do you keep them in it until and is it easy to transition from Snoo to Cot?

5 - What do you think of it, was it worth the cost for you? I really don’t know whether to just send it back, it seems so overwhelming!

I've just looked this up as I didn't know what one was, I'm all for a gadget but I'm shocked at the price for 6 months of use. Sorry I'm no help otherwise.

@TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyHusband I got it in the sale but it ended on Boxing day! Still a disgusting amount of money but apparently they sell on really well and you can easily recoup half your money back. Most people sell them on for £600. I was going to buy mine second hand but then saw they were on sale.

I get the resale value thing it's just eye watering initially lol. I'm sure once you get the hang of it you will love it, have you tried YouTube tutorials or unboxing to help you with it ?

I can’t answer all your questions as it wasn’t my child who used a SNOO but one I took care of.

His parents did keep his arms in the swaddle and used the motion for naps and night time. So essentially they used it as directed.

I don’t know about thicker swaddles and such but their house was comfortably warm so it wasn’t a concern.

All I can say that the little guy I cared for that used the SNOO was the BEST sleeper I’ve ever met!!!

They stuck to the 2 hour naps during the day and he transitioned easily to his cot probably slightly before 6 months (he was huge, so a more normal sized baby would probably be longer). They were worried that he wouldn’t be able to adjust to no motion, but not an issue at all. He had one brief few days of needing a bit of sleep training around 9 months.

Once he went to one nap a day around 14 months, it was consistently 3-4 hours and he slept all night as well, 8-7.

Little sis was then a SNOO baby and also did great. (I didn’t take care of her!)

ETA the people I worked for said it’d be worth twice the money they paid! And they’ve said my DD can have it when she has a baby!

@TheTigerWhoCameToEatMyHusband I know, I really agonised over it but my friend persuaded me, as she says hers saved her sanity! She’s on holiday at the mo so can’t pick her brains over it.

I’ll Youtube it at some point. I am not very “techy” and didn’t particularly want it but my partner pushed for it, he’s anything for a gadget. He can figure it out tomorrow but I also need to know how it all works.

DS1 and DDIL had one for their baby. I don't understand it all but they were really pleased with it and their little one has always slept very well
