Good morning! I'm up, no teething babies for me though, just insomnia.

What are your plans for this weekend?

morphette · 23/12/2023 02:36

In and out of bed every five minutes!

Just woken up in a holiday cottage (staying with family over Christmas) and the room is too stuffy.

Ten months is a lovely age (apart from the teething)! I hope you and your baby can get back to sleep soon.

My dc are in their twenties now but I was the same as you op, once they woke me, I couldn’t get back to sleep afterwards. I used to give up and go and iron clothes or go and watch a soppy film or bake, depending on how energetic I was feeling.

Take care and don’t push yourself too hard during the day if you can possibly help it. Sleep deprivation is the pits. And hope your partner can take a turn over the Christmas holidays.

Awww, I remember how hard that stage was! At least getting 4 at once is efficient!!! Enjoy the snuggles and hope you get some sleep soon

Me. Third night on the bounce that I've been woken after midnight by kids wanting ridiculous things and then not been able to get back to sleep. Night one was dd2 (16), wanting to know where my car keys were at 12.15 at night so she could get her make up bag which she'd left in there. We had words! Finally got back to sleep at about 5am then had to be up at 6.30.

Night 2 was DSS1 (12) at 2am saying he felt sick.(he always says he feels sick but rarely is actually sick -it's an anxiety thing I think), again about an hours sleep for me.

last night was DSS1 again at 1am asking to go and sleep downstairs as he could apparently hear his grandad snoring and it was keeping him up (his grandad wasn't snoring especially, DSS just gets himself wound up about the possibility of it). I settled him on the sofa with a duvet. Then 40 minutes later he was too cold so came to tell me he was coming back up . This was info I didn't really need, but he's a very young 12 and his Mum is quite controlling and he can't move without permission when he's there so it doesn't occur to him that he can move around the house independently here! I've been wide awake ever since and have now given up on the idea and am up MN'ing and will read for a bit. Don't want to go downstairs and risk disturbing the in-laws who are staying.

At least I'm off work today!

caramac04 · 23/12/2023 05:05

insomniac here. Been awake since 2 am so up having decaff coffee and a glass of Shloer
I wish I could be productive when I can’t sleep. I often feel like baking but don’t want to wake DS whose bedroom is above the kitchen. He is an adult and would probably sleep through an earthquake though.
I need to leave clothes downstairs so that at least I could walk the dog.
I hope your baby’s teeth cut through soon and you can both sleep.
Enjoy your snuggles.

Piemam · 23/12/2023 05:14

Hi fellow insomniacs 👋🏽 and mothers (is always mothers, isn't it, that get woken for minor things!). Just awake now but not able to do anything as small child would look for me. Remembering the days when I'd have coffee and see the sun rise and accomplish something off my list before anyone else was up, when my baby decided to be up for the day at some ungodly hour.

BREAKING NEWS - Apparently I accidentally discovered a cure for insomnia last night... just try to keep someone company on Mumsnet and, whoosh, instantly fall asleep 😂. Sorry about that, thankfully other people turned up.

We seem to have a weekend of eating and drinking planned! Today we're going to our friends' house for lunch and then our neighbours on one side are coming round tonight for a drink. Then tomorrow the neighbours on the other side will come round in late afternoon for a drink and then we'll get a Chinese takeaway and watch an old film. It's my turn to choose this year and I've chosen Miracle on 34th Street, the 1947 version.

Hope the wee fella went to sleep eventually, he sounds adorable 😍.
