Sleep training 18mo!

Hi everyone, my 18mo currently sleeps 11.30am to 1pm and then again at 8pm until 6pm.

We've never been able to do 7-7 and realised the most we could ever really get was a 10 hour stretch and have somewhat accepted that.

The only thing is, we still get multiple wakes at night, DC will usually go back to sleep after 15/20 mins of cuddles and now has been waking at 5.30am. The 2 combined mean we never really get a proper night's sleep, sometimes struggling to go back to sleep.

How do we teach to self settle and sleep a bit longer without tears or does it have to be CIO/CC?

Would love some tips, advice and please no judgment. TIA x

My DD is 20 months now and since ages she was only sleeping 10h a night. I have started giving her dinner later in the evening so that she is more full and she is able to stay asleep much better and more towards 11h even 12h. The other day she wasn't eating well and gosh the night was challenging as she kept waking up. Is it possible yours needs more food in the evening?

We upped the food a while ago incase this was it but it hasn't helped tbh

Currently had dinner at 6pm and a cup of milk at 7pm (as well as snacks after breakfast and lunch).

I was hoping self settling would do the trick but not sure how to teach that without tears.
