10 month old - back to contact naps?

Hello.

Would appreciate some advice. FTM

So my little girl is just over 10 months old. She used to nap 30-40 Mins in the morning. And the same in the afternoon.

Recently she's started this new thing which has me confused! So after her morning nap (30 mins) she will stand and cry for me. I go to pick her up and instantly she will sleep on my shoulder. I'll cuddle her and after a few minutes, try to settle her back in her cot, but she wakes instantly and cries lots. So I pick her up.

Basically for another hour we have a contact nap. She's much much happier in the day when she gets this longer nap in.

Now what confuses me is that for months she's napped by herself, sleeps by herself, but all of a sudden we have contact naps again. Is this a sleep regression? Developmental?

Please, no negative remarks. This sleep deprived mama is delicate as it is! 😅

Mine went through a phase of doing that at about 9.5 months! I would stick with what you're doing for now- at least this way she's getting more sleep and is happier. Hopefully at some point soon she just won't wake up after half an hour and she'll have a longer sleep in her cot (which is what mine started doing). Best of luck!
