Dying a little every night

Our now 18m was a good sleeper for about a month since birth so I guess that means he’s always been rubbish. He’s now on week 3 of constant illness (started nursery in September). He had bronchiolitis and now on the rear end of what I’m assuming is slapped cheek, standardised ‘virus’.
the last month he’s been so poorly I’ve just adjusted my mindset to needing sleep. Now he’s practically better surely he’ll go back to sleeping longer than 3 hours?! Am I dreaming? Will this never happen?
I just feel I’m at my wits end now…

Does he sleep in his own room or do you bed share? He is probably just completely out of sync. How are his naps?

Being honest I really regret being so strict with my DD3 at the start when it came to sleep. Now I've no problems with her coming into bed with me for sleep. I sleep trained her etc and it was all worth fuck all tbh. Do what you need to do to sleep.

My friend recently got a sleep specialist in to help with her 18 month old. There was no crying out or anything. Just adjusting of naps and routines. Something like that might help

@Alasar he’s in his own cot in our room (no time or energy to sort his room out atm). There’s nothing that wakes him as he is a deep sleeper when sleeping. I think he’s just out of sync from being unwell, his naps are all over the place as he had such a high temp this week he was barely sleeping 10-45min intervals. He’s seemed better the last two days (not 100% but so much perkier than he was) so I tried to do our usual bedtime routine tonight which he flat out refused ‘up mumum! Up!!’ While screaming at me.
I think he’s gotten back into routine of sleeping on us and freaks out when wakes up not on us, our own fault a guess but he’s been so poorly I’ve just done whatever possible to get him to rest up so has gotten out of being able to put himself back to sleep but maybe he’s just still not feeling well. I don’t know anymore…
