So is it really really dangerous to let DS2 (8 months) sleep with a pillow?

After 8 months of sleepless nights (on average waking up six times) DS2 only woke once last night and then went straight back to sleep. I'd put a pillow in his cot.

I put it in between the mattress and the fitted sheet. Plus he has a breathing monitor (although I'm aware of course that this will not prevent a situation where he stops breathing, only alert me to it).

He is rolling over and crawling now. He sits up on his own in the cot despite being in a sleeping bag.

Am I doing the wrong thing? It seemed to do the trick.

I did have a pillow in the cot at this age but it was a goi goi pillow to help prevent flat head syndrome and was specifically for babies. What sort of pillow are you using?

A normal feather pillow. Quite old so quite flat.

I know its probably frowned upon but generally by ten at night I'd have been in to him three times. Tonight not a peep.

He also has flat head syndrome. I wonder whether it makes it uncomfortable for him to sleep on the mattress alone?

Ds always slept on a wedge-shaped pillow for his reflux. Was foam, and specifically for babies. Tbh I'd hesitate to use a feather one but foam would be OK.

My 9 month old bub has gone from getting himself to sleep quite easily to screaming down the house the very moment he lays down in his cot. (he used to do that at 5 months when he went from co-sleep to cot), but I can't work out what it is now. He stands in his cot and holds on to the sides and won't be put down. He didn't sleep well until 6 months and I ended up giving him a dummy at 7 months which helped him more, but now it doesn't help at all. Also when we're out in the stroller as soon as he's tired he screams ..really screams..it's a mare, he didn't used to! I think the screaming has started again since he has been able to pull himself up in the cot...but what now...? I am thinking of letting him cry it out - any advice?
