Hi all really need advice. 24 month old hasn't napped in 3 days. I tried making him nap later each day. He didn't. He was then very tired at 6.30 then and asleep at 6.45pm for each of these days. Problem was then he was waking at about 10pm screaming inconsolabley for an hour. I suspect over tiredness.

Managed to get him for a nap at 2.45 today for an hour but now he won't sleep and is mad to escape his cot!

A typical day before this week was waking at 7.30am, nap from 12.30/1 till 3pm. Bedtime at 7.45 and asleep soon after...

I really can't tell if he's dropping the nap or it's a sleep regression. He has the nap today but it's made him wide awake tonight. I think he's pretty fine without the nap however he's wrecked come 5 or 5 pm which seems a little early? This the waking at 10pm screaming. Anyone have any experience of similar?

For a start, he's 2...

Also this all sounds very normal! 2.45 for my 2 year old would be waking up time not going to sleep! So no wonder he's wide awake. It's normal while they're transitioning to be over tired, and sometimes mine is in bed by 6pm, but he loves his sleep. If he's up after than 7, he can do that unconsolable crying as he's overtired. Just stick with it, he will move on from this.

@YouAndMeAndThem thanks for the reply. Do you mean try to stick with the no nap?. He's my eldest so I don't know a thing I didn't know about a transition period. Is the overtiredness normal for this time and does it pass? And yes he used to sleep at 12.30 for a nap like every day!! And now he's not tired at all. I just tried him in the cot at 2.30 today because of his last few nights of crying, I thought it meant he needed the nap. It's all confusing 😅
