What time does your baby go to bed?

My DD is 12 weeks old and is currently going to sleep at around 11pm, go up a lot earlier (between 9.30/10, and have tried earlier) but no matter what time we go up to bed she doesn’t settle until gone 11pm.

I’ve read that 3 mo should be going to bed at around 6/7, that sounds impossible? And if they do go to sleep at that time what do you do for the rest of the evening? Especially as they need to be in the same room as you?

Mine are 6 and 3 now but expecting no.3 any day now. At that age and especially when in the same room I don't think it really matters. Mine definitely weren't sleeping until gone 10 and I don't think they properly fell asleep at 6/7 until closer to 1 and in their own room. If they're sleeping in your room then they don't need a bedtime, they'll fall asleep when they're tired. You're doing a great job!

My DS was going to sleep at more like 7.30/8 at that age. I'd started with him sleeping about 10.30 and gradually brought it down half an hour at a time. But that's because he was clearly tired and ready to go to sleep. I think all babies are different. Especially at this age, it's hard to get a routine going. I guess she's just not tired!

For your second question, we had him in a moses basket in the living room. We still watched tv, but quietly. By 6 months, he was starting to be bothered by the noise, so that's when we started putting him upstairs at night with the monitor on.

You'll find a pattern that works for you, it gets a bit more structured the closer to 6 months you get.

It's 12 weeks 'bedtime' was when we went up to bed and took her up with us. Before that she slept in the living room with the lights dimmed and tv on low. Bath was usually at around 7pm. When she was 6 months she started going up alone with the monitor on but she's a poor sleeper anyway so I would usually end up in bed with her feeding etc

Mine was about the same, 10/11ish, and it gradually got earlier to about 7/8pm (she’s now 5 months) I can’t remember when or how it shifted though, I think she started waking earlier and we started properly doing wake windows and naps around 10/11 weeks. I think!

Ultimately though as long as they’re getting enough sleep for their age it doesn’t really matter when they’re so young ☺️
