11 month old naps - HELP!

11 month old sleeps well at night (usually 7- 6 or 7am with a night wake but straight back to sleep) but his daytime naps the last few weeks are a nightmare and I need a break!

If he wakes at 7am, he goes down for first nap 3 hours later and has only been doing 20 mins for the last week. I then put him down for second nap about 3 or 4 hours later and he just fights it. I spend an hour or so trying as he gives me all the signs he's ready (almost falls asleep on me/ yawning/ red eyebrows etc) and a few times will think he's gone and then he will cry... so I get him up.

I know he's teething and also nearly standing so maybe it's all of this...

I thought maybe it meant he needs to drop a nap but surely 20 mins at 11 months isn't enough? Any advice or tips would be so appreciated.

My DD stopped napping very early, just wouldn't was absolutely fine wide awake not being tired and difficult, slept well through the night, my mum spent hours trying to get her to nap, just not worth the effort. Friends said they couldn't cope if theirs didn't nap for several hours in the day. As she got older she also wouldn't go to sleep early either. An adult now and still a night owl. Just how she was/is, whatever the book said.

That's really helpful, thank you

Yeah my 11 month old started fighting his afternoon nap so I just left it. He has days where his first wake window is 3 hrs and others when its 5.. only sleeps 1,5 hrs in the day and I put him down for one nap at 10:30 ish (actually I follow tired cues) and at night around 19:00

My DS was only on one nap a day by then and it was at midday most of the time. Similar to another poster, he also never went to bed early as he got older and only ever needed about 9/10 hours sleep. He's 12 now and sleeps roughly 9 hours a night.
Maybe hold off letting him sleep in the morning and let him have one nap around lunch time?

That's useful to hear, I'll give one nap a go and see how we go. Thank you

Thanks for the check in. Baby has actually been pretty poorly so is napping more for the moment.
