Going from Cot to bed, advice please

Hi, my dd is 2.6 years and ready for moving from her cot to bed. She's very excited when we talk about it, but I'm not sure the best way to go about it. Any advice would be welcome!

We built it up as something really special that you can do when you're a big girl (boy in our case) and let them choose some nice bedding etc. The we just picked a day and did it. Good luck!
