Toddlers bedtime clothing advice

I've always been a bit OTT with what to dress my LO at night. I think as he was a bad sleeper when he was a baby that didn't help. But thankfully now he's a lot better sleeper at the age of 4.

My question is I think my LO gets warm in bed quite easily. For example this time of year he's in a 7.5 tog duvet wearing a short sleeved t-shirt and shorts. His room temperature is between 16-18c at night (although it's been a mild winter so far). He been sleeping really well.

When we've had some colder nights where his room drops to between 14-15c at night I've put a long sleeve t-shirt but he then seems restless. But without it I feel his arms will get too cold.

During the cold winter nights parents who have toddlers, what do your kids where at night?

I'm thinking to keep him in short sleeve t-shirt and shorts but add an additional blanket if it gets colder.
