Horrendous 12 month old sleep

My son turned 1 last week.

For the last 2 weeks his sleep has been beyond atrocious.

He used to nap in his cot up to 3 hours a day. Now he does not sleep in his cot at all, only contact napping or in his pram for maybe 1.5 hours total.

He would sleep 3/4 of the night (6pm-6am) in his cot with maybe a few wakings. Now he screams like a banshee if we so much as think of putting him in his cot, won't go down until 10pm and had to sleep in with us.

Is this the 12 month sleep regression? What can I do? I've got an older child and my husband leaves for work at 5am so I can't afford to sit up all night trying to coax him into his own bed. I won't let him cry it out especially as it upsets my eldest.

Could be molars cutting.

Could also be linked to learning to stand / walk. This leads to massive behavioural changes - to do with learning I can get myself from sitting to standing, but sleep time is not the right time to do that.
