What tog duvet for a 4yo?

Just that really...

DS still has the same duvet he used when he was in a cot. I think it's about 4 togs. We've just ordered him a new, bigger bed, and need to get new bedding to go with it. Do I get him a 10.5 tog duvet like I use at this time of year, or another 4 tog one, or something in between?

He'll be 5 in May. He's never complained about being cold in bed.

I got a 7.5 tog for my 3 year old. I think I read somewhere that 7.5 was the max you should give that age. I was finding 4 tog wasn’t keeping her warm enough in winter.

If its a single bed the maximum recommended tog is 10.5tog. A toddler bed has a maximum recommendation of 4.5tog.

Although my teenagers use a 4.5 tog duvet all year round!

Depends on your house, we all have 10.5, why would you give your child less unless you are putting them in a fleece sleep suit or similar

With your 3 year old are they wearing short/long sleeve tops or shorts/trousers during these colder winter nights?

My 4 year old has a 7.5 tog and was wearing shorts and short sleeve tops but worry with the temperature dropping he will be cold. I always find if I add layers he sleeps worse

She wears long sleeve pj tops and bottoms.
In the summer I’ll go back to 4 tog and use short sleeve tops and shorts.

Thanks

My dd is only just five, and she has a 10.5tog on her single bed. She also wears warm pyjamas and takes a heated teddy bear to bed. Our house is quite cold though and I don't have any heating on overnight.

Thanks all. I finally bought him a 10.5 tog one yesterday. It does seem thick but last night was cold, and he was snuggled up under it when I checked on him. DH and I use our 10.5 tog all year round so I think maybe our house is also quite cold at night.
