Regressing... during a regression?!

DS2, 9 months old. Certain the 9 month regression started 2.5 weeks ago. BUT last week, we had three nights of him back to 7pm - 6.45am overnight sleep. Thought "phew thank god that's over".
But nope. Last two nights, he's woken up around 9:30pm and he fights going back to sleep.
Only now he's fallen back to sleep in my arms after me feeding him a 5oz bottle of milk (he's been night weaned for ages). Now I need to transfer him back to his cot hopefully.

What the actual fuck?! We progressed and now regressed again within a matter of days.

Also, he settled himself to sleep for all naps and for the start of bedtime. I literally give him a kiss and cuddle, put him down wide awake, say "night night" and walk out of the room and he's absolutely fine. No tears. So it's not a self-settling issue?!

When will this torture end 😫😫

I find this rather bemusing. I can't imagine what it's like to have a baby who realises it's 2023 and they aren't at risk from being eaten alive when you put them down.

There's nothing abnormal going on here (beyond your expectations!). Progressions involve change to whatever is norm for your baby and development isn't linear. What you're going through is pretty textbook. This too shall pass.
