Disturbed sleep

Hi, we have a 16month old, he has always been a bad sleeper but I think I need to get to the bottom of it. Sometimes he will sleep through without a murmer but most of the time he cries between 2 and 5 times a night. He doesnt wake up he's just doing it in his sleep, sometimes he settles and sometimes he doesnt. This had been going on since he was tiny and it really doesnt make any difference what kind of day he's had. I keep thinking maybe it's a digestive problem or a sleep disorder I just don't know. He does have a dummy but I'm not convinced its the route of the problem. Has anyone had the same problem or any ideas please?x

Is it proper full on sobbing crying or just small sobs?

Exactly the same here. DD 18 months, sometimes will sob or cry out in her sleep, sometimes wake fully and I'll have to settle her. She also had a dumy until a week ago but has been no different (perhaps a little worse actually) since getting rid of it. Does he cry really hard? My DD is just really crying out which I think is more a dream type thing.

So glad he's not the only one I'm just sending an e mail to the London Sleep Centre! It's so difficult to describe mostly it's proper crying sometimes it esculates into screaming so I give him back his dummy and he settles but most of the time he will settle himself which is why I'm not convinced its a dummy thing.

Ginger - Can i take it that your dd is now sleeping through?? I do hope so. . My ds does exactly this too! regularly cries out and i rarely go to him as he does settle himself. I thihk it is often because he gets wedged the wrong way in his cot and his covers come off. It could be teeth or anything really. But it does disturb my sleep even if it isonly briefly. tbh i think it is just a little quirk of his a nd I will just have to poke up with it. it could be worse....

he is 18mths btw.

erh, no cruise. we've had some sleep throughs but we've also had some awful nights with teething. on the whole we're ok though its manageable
