Do I cut the nap???

My 2.5 year old DD naps for 1:30 hours at 12:30-2 then she’s asleep by 8-8:30pm.

She wakes at 5:30am every morning crying and overtired. I’ve tried everything i can think of to get her back to sleep but she’s having none of it!

How did you solve this issue with your toddler? Cut the nap? Ride it out? I haven’t tried a gro clock yet but not sure it would work as she’s so stubborn.

please 🙏🏻 someone give me some advice as we’re all tired and not getting anywhere.

Im guessing this is that awkward stage before giving up the nap! Where they need less sleep.

Have you tried cutting the nap length rather than dropping it completely? Cut it down by 15 mins initially then down another 15 mins and see if it makes any difference

We have tried cutting it but she’s so tired still, is it something we have to ride out until she’s used to it?

Mine cut their nap completely at 2 and a half, coinciding with potty training and huge developmental leaps. But they were always in bed for half 7 and slept close to 12 ish hours. Once the nap goes I found that any length of car journey after mid afternoon was dangerous for that short nap that completely disrupted bedtime.

I had dropped the nap by this stage. I replaced it with quiet sofa tv/book hour.

Ok great! I guess the answer is staring me in the face. Did you phase the naps out or did they just stop happening? Also how long did it take your Dc to get used to no naps?

@Loobylou2929 Hey. Can I ask what you ended up doing? My little one is currently doing the exact same. Same bedtime and wake up time too. I don’t think he’s getting enough sleep as is often grumpy but don’t know whether to cut nap or just drop it?
