Switching from next to me to cot

Recently my 6 month old is waking more often and seems less happy in the next to me we have. Often she has wiggled herself into the side or diagonally across it from one side to another. Could this mean she has outgrown the crib and needs to go into a cot? I have the cot and have ordered a mattress but hesitate to make the switch if this is likely not the problem as wake ups will be harder to deal with when she is in the cot.

I didn’t think it was safe to use these cots once they turn 6 months as they could fall out if they sit up or pull to stand. FWIW the first time both of mine pulled to stand I found them like that in the cot in the morning so I wouldn’t justify prolonged use of the next to me by thinking that she’s not standing yet. I can’t remember exactly what age that was but my eldest DD was walking at only 9 months so must have been standing quite young. The fact your baby is clearly active in her sleep would seal it for me too.

I think once they can sit up you aren't meant to use a next to me. We transitioned by detaching the next to me from our bed and having it as a standalone crib on the other side of our room for a few weeks before we then made the change to a cot.

Sorry should’ve said she is very little for her age and has literally just started sitting this week, though could currently get into a sit without help. I’m aware I need to make the change I suppose. Perhaps I’m more looking for tales of hope that sleep might improve, or at least not deteriorate when we make the switch.

My little one started waking more around this time. I put the next to me bassinet in the big cot as a transition at 6 months and now she's just in the big cot at 6m 2w...her sleep massively improved going into her own room
