8 week old & naps

My 8 week old won’t nap anywhere but in a sling at the moment. He will fall asleep on me but wakes up within 10 mins. If I try to put him down anywhere (pram with rockit / white noise, Moses with white noise, cot with white noise) he immediately wakes up crying no matter how deep the sleep was. Swaddling makes no difference. I wind him before every nap. What am I doing wrong? I am fed up of putting him in the sling constantly as I can’t sit down, he kicks off for a good 5 mins which is exhausting to deal with. I guess I am looking for tips or reassurance ☹️

Forgot to add just to demonstrate how persistent I’ve been, I’ve on two occasions in the last week spent 2 hours trying to get him to nap (either on me or in Moses) before resorting to the sling

You're not doing anything wrong, it's completely normal! As hard as it is, newborns want to be with their mothers all the time because they still feel they are a part of them. Look up about the fourth trimester if you haven't already heard of it! I had the exact same difficulties but I caused myself more stress trying to get baby down to sleep or get him to sleep on me then transfer him. I just gave in to what was normal and let him contact nap and watched tonnes of Netflix! He grew out of contact napping, as will your little one. I know it's easier said than done but try and embrace this time and enjoy it.

Hi! Just found your post, I am struggling with the same. No luck with anything yet. Everyone keeps saying it’s the newborn phase but plenty if other 8 week old seem to be able to sleep in different places. I feel like i am failing. I hope your problems can be solved, just want you to know you’re not alone. X

As an update - he does now nap in other places (he’s 13 weeks), just keep tried and it started to work more often. He doesn’t nap for as long though so still working on that! X
