8 month old naps - 45 mins!!

trying to stop contact naps as I go back to work soon

moved onto a 2 nap schedule a few weeks ago. Still adjusting eith many night wakings but putting baby in his cot for naps. Same routine as night, black room, sleeping bag white noise

i know he is tired and can nap longer but when it’s in his cot it’s 45 mins max. If it’s a contact nap it’s 1-1.5 hour long. Is this normal? Will he eventually get it and nap longer or anything I should be doing?

My 8 month old only naps 30-45 mins 😭 we're still on 3 naps a day for that reason!! Sometimes he only does 25 minutes. It's hard work. My eldest who is now almost 4, was on 2 naps a day at this stage. Around 1.5 hours at a time.

My 8 month old can sleep like a log when he's being held but I'm back at work now so it's not possible. Just trying to ride it out at the moment and hope he'll get there eventually!

I noticed with my eldest, naps extended when he was more mobile (I.e crawling) as he was using up more energy and tiring himself out. My 8 month old isn't crawling yet. Maybe that will help!

Sorry to hear your going through the same.

i am trying to not contact nap but I need to do at least one to get a longer nap. Good to know it’s quite normal though - wondering if I was doing something wrong!

Very normal. My DS did start having longer naps… for a while… and then back to short ones!

It’s harder to link sleep cycles in the day compared to night time. Sometimes I would be able to re-settle him and he’d go back for another 45 mins, but very hit and miss.

Hahaha well night time are not much better either! They were but gone back to multiple night wakings! Here’s hoping both improve asap!
