Daytime sleep for baby used to nursing to sleep

Has anyone had success establishing a daytime nap routine for a baby who formerly nursed to sleep for most naps?
I have returned to work after 6 months and my husband is taking 3 months shared parental leave. I am now only breastfeeding for last feed and at night. During the day it is expressed milk or formula.
Husband is struggling to get our little one down for daytime naps. For the first while he would drop off after grumbling a bit but now he cries in the crib until picked up again. Has anyone been through a similar transition and encountered this challenge? Any advice greatly appreciated.

How long has it been going on? Baby may take a while to get used to the new routine.

Could DH try a different way of settling if baby is not cooperative? My DH never got eldest to sleep in her cot. Not once. But she'd snuggle into his chest on the sofa while he read/watched TV. He did this with her once a week for 2 years. My mum doesn't like totry and settle in cot, so on her days with all of my 3 she's taken them in the pram for their nap - still does with my boys twice a week and they're nearly 3.

Our nanny had the boys from 9 months 2 days a week. They were used to feeding to sleep with me, and weren't settling in the for well - they didn't go down till over tired and then slept poorly. So she took them in the pram till they were 18 months or so. At that point she gave the cots another try and had no difficulty at all.

Maybe just be fllexible and try a few different things until you find somethingtha works?
