14mo awake early - but will only go back to sleep with dummy

14mo is a great sleeper, has been for a while now. Happily sleeps through from 7.15pm until around 5.30am - then stirs and whimpers/whines. If I don’t go in and pop his dummy in, he’s awake for the day and exhausted. If I do go in and pop his dummy in, he will happily drift back off for another 45 mins to an hour! Even just a cuddle doesn’t work, it needs to be the dummy. I want to get rid of his dummy soon as he naps fine at nursery without one.
I already leave a few dummies in his cot so he can find them but he doesn’t seem to try!
Is there any way of getting round this or do I just need to be bloody grateful I am up once overnight after a really good stretch, rather than multiple times?

Maybe leave even more dummies in the cot? But in general just be happy he goes back off the sleep. My baby if wakes at that time won't go back to sleep (today been up since 5..) and similarly tired during the day.

Just be glad that he goes back to sleep and don't rush to get rid of the dummies.

If the dummy works then go for it! I reckon it's fine if he only has it at very limited times.

When you go in can you point tot he dummy to encourage him to pick up himself?
