Early waking

Ds will be 3 in july and for the past 2-3 weeks he has been waking up at 6am. He used to sleep 8-8 no problems, he got a big bed at christmas which he loves. but now I dont know what the problem is.
He will get up, come in to my room and tell me to get up and he wants his breakfast. I tell him to go back to bed it is too early to get up just now. This usually resorts to him shouting saying its not early. I would then take him back to bed endless times until 8am.

I dont know what to do, it is driving me mad!!

i have a sleep therapist who sees my ds and says that by 6 if asleep from 8 they have had there required amount of sleep i think 8 for a 3 yr old is a bit late to be honest

ive been up at 6 with my ds from 2 but i can get him settled with tv and toast and lay on sofa if really tired

the older they get the less sleep they actually need if you get up and take him bvack continuously wouldnt it be better to just get up and maybe lay on sofa if your that tired

have to be honest i dont know anyone with dc that get up at 8 all ranges from 5-30-6 and this is perfectly normal imo

Really?? I didnt know that. He also turns into a nightmare after his tea around 6.30 because he is so tired and getting him into bed is becoming a battle. will this just be a phase untill his sleep becomes more regulated then?

i would think so what i normally do with my ds is if at lunch he is looking tired i'll put him down for a nap

then he can go to bed normal time i do my ds tea at 5.30-6 then quiet time before bed read a book or play ceebeebie games

7 oclock pj's on 7-30 bed seems to work well then by 8 he can be asleep but on days he looks really tired i'll put him to bed Aat 6.60 aiming to be asleep after 7

just make routines slightly early if he is tiring earlier then he may have slightly extra sleep at night

but its 10-12 hrs sleep a 3 yr old needs and most i know its the 10 so bed at 8 up at 6

your lucky you had so much sleep for so long alwasy been up around 5-6 only very rarely will he sleep until 7 very rare

if his getting over tired get him ready for bed before tea i dont always bath my ds before bed as find it makes him worse

then take him through to his room for quiet time read books or colour in together then pop into bed and read a story

lots of praise and calmness they soon get used to new routine
