15 month old nap schedule

BeckyBoo16 · 18/09/2023 11:42

My 15 month old goes to nursery 3 days a week from 7.15-6pm (I work at the same nursery so he does the hours I do and I work longer days to get extra time off in the week) and he only has 1 nap a day at nursery (12-2) however at home he still has a morning nap and an afternoon nap.
Any tips on how I can drop the morning nap? As it’s getting longer and later and then getting him to go for an afternoon nap is tricky!

thanks!

I just did it really early to begin with and accepted an early bedtime. Lunch? at 11 and then into bed.

@tensmumsnot he has lunch at 11.30 at nursery then is asleep by 12 and I’ve tried doing that at home but I’m finding by 9am he’s getting his sleep comforter and lying down on the floor/sofa and wanting to go to bed, if we go for a walk/drive somewhere like the nature reserve etc he’ll fall asleep on the way so gets a nap that way which is what I’m finding it hard for cut out.
hoping he’ll drop it naturally 🤞🏻

Could you maybe just let him have a short morning nap while he transitions down to 1? Wake him after 30 mins or something?

Keep the morning nap short (like 20 mins) to preserve the afternoon nap. Otherwise keep him busy in the morning, early lunch, maybe take it out with you, then nap time.

What time does he wake in the morning ?

BeckyBoo16 · 19/09/2023 20:53

@Goldencup he goes to bed between 6.30-7pm and wakes up around 5.45-6 as I get up for work then and he hears me get up, on my days off he’ll sleep till 6.30-7am.

@chillipod yes I think I’ll try cutting his morning nap short, maybe a 20 minute pushchair nap while we walk to the park and then wake him up for lots of exercise!
