Sorry for the rambling title, wasn't sure how to condense this into a snippet. My 16mo has never napped the "recommended" amounts and dropped every nap early. He went down to 2 naps at 6 months and started dropping to one at 8 months, fully and consistently been on one nap since 10 months. His nap schedule has been pretty exactly the same since then, so for 6 months now! Bedtime shifted from 6pm when he first started transitioning to one nap, to around 7pm where it stayed. Wake up time has gone from 7-8am to 6-7am EXCEPT this week he has started waking at 5-5.30am! 😩
So I'm wondering if I need to adjust something. He goes down for his nap really easily so definitely not ready to drop it. He also goes to sleep at bedtime relatively fine, needs rocking and singing to and then cuddling, but is usually asleep in 15-30 minutes after going in his room. So he's tired enough at the right times to go to sleep, but then is just up upsettingly early, and full of excitement for the new day! We could handle 6am, but 5 is too early ðŸ˜
Nap 11-12.30 and he wakes up by himself, very occasionally I go and wake him but he's usually already stirring.
Bed asleep by 7-7.30
Should we try to shift everything a bit later? Cap the nap at an hour? I would understand if it was midsummer and he was up at 5, which he did a few times, but now it's still pitch black outside at 5am and I was hoping that with darker mornings we would get later lie ins!
