6 week old sleep pattern

Anyone else’s newborn sleep through the night but hardly sleeps through the day?
My six week old has been sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night, waking for 1 or 2 feeds which is great but during the day sleeps no longer that 20-30 mins at a time maybe 3-4 times a day. I know it could all change tomorrow 😂

This doesn’t sound like enough day sleep to me, try to offer more opportunities to nap maybe? Is it in a dark quiet room? We struggled with day sleep and mine only did good naps if sleeping on me, around 6 months during a heatwave I stopped any contact naps but was offering up to 5 naps a day to make sure she got enough sleep, as she only slept 15-40 min at a time 🤷‍♀️ I used the huckleberry app for wake windows and sleep tracking.

Like your wee one she will sleep on me during the day but not for long. Overnight she’s in a dark room in a sleeping bag and sleeps in her own next to me crib no problem. During the day she’s downstairs so noise and lights are on, I’ll try letting her nap in the dark and see if that helps. Doesn’t sleep in her pram either.

Yes, everyone says they should get used to sleeping with lights and noise, and i thought so too, but my baby didn’t ever sleep well outside her bedroom 🤷‍♀️ there will still be some household noise even if she’s in her own bed in another room with blinds down (not pitch black though, and it’s been fine). Be patient though, and keep a nap routine every time, it might take some time to adjust her and get used to the new set up. I’ve used a light sleeping bag for every nap over her day clothes until very recently as part of the nap routine.

Mine also never slept for more than 30 min in the pram, so annoying 😁

Have you tried a sling? My LO is 6 weeks old today, and we had a similar problem a couple of weeks ago. We were told to let her sleep on me in the day so she was getting some sleep. She sleeps well this way, but when she struggles, a sling helps. She'll fall asleep with me walking and bouncing her in it, and stay sleeping for at least an hour in it. I think she likes the closeness and it frees me up a bit more too! Plus, it's really easy to gently bounce her if she stirs which sends her back to sleep.
