Help! My 4 month old has recently started refusing to sleep on his back. I know we’re in the midst of the 4mo sleep regression, but I’m still wondering if there is a reason why this could be the case?
I used to feed him to sleep and put him down and he’d stay asleep for several hours, up until about three months when he started waking every two hours. Now he just will not stay asleep on his back. If I transfer him, he wakes straight away. If I put him on his front or side he will nod off easily, but then as soon as I roll him onto his back he will wake again.
I’m getting pretty desperate as now not even getting the 1.5 stints of sleep we were getting before.
One night I let him sleep on his front between feeds because I weighed up the risks and decided it was getting to the point where it was riskier if I carried on being so sleep deprived. I got a three hour stretch and felt much better for it! But I know how dangerous it is so it’s not a long term solution.
Is there a reason he could be uncomfortable on his back? As that’s how it seems. Reflux or something that’s not yet shown before?
Any help or suggestions gratefully received (please don’t criticise me for leaving him on his front, I know it’s not good but I was desperate).
