14m not settling after night feed

DD2 is 14m and generally a good sleeper. Sleeps from 7-7.30pm to around 2/3am and has a feed (breastfed) but has recently been struggling to get back to sleep. Can take 1/2 hours to get her back to sleep. If she wakes earlier in the night it’s easier but she then wakes for the day at 5am. She can self settle for naps and goes to bed drowsy but awake.

Naps are 9/9.30-10.30 and 2-3.30pm.

Any ideas how to get her sleeping through?

I think the naps are too long -at that age babies are normally on one long lunchtime nap only -max 2 hours -around 12-2. You could cut down the afternoon nap and keep pushing the morning one later and later until it starts late enough so that she doesn't need afternoon nap. Hopefully that will make the difference with the night wake because she will be sufficiently tired to go back to sleep speedily (or not wake up at all for the milk).

Agree with purple on the naps.

Just wondering if she's in your bed? I found the same thing at 14 months, they both suddenly wanted to play in the night. Both got moved to their own rooms at this age and it was much better.

I'd also have a look at Dr Jay Gordon's Gentle Night Weaning Method.

The No Cry Sleep Solution has some useful tips on early waking which might help you out as well Wink

Thanks! That’s helpful. I had been thinking that naps need to be tweaked as she’s had the same routine for months now. She’s in her own room and cot with white noise.
