Toddler Early Nap

Hi all ๐Ÿ˜Š

Just trying to do a bit of research on naps!

DS is 19m next week and for the last 3 weeks his sleep has been awful again - heโ€™s never been the best and itโ€™s always quite up and down but weโ€™d got into a good place of either sleeping through or one quick wake up.

He is still rocked to sleep (which is something Iโ€™d like to stop soon but thatโ€™s a whole other issue ๐Ÿ˜‚) and goes to bed at around 8pm, getting up anywhere between 6 and 7am.

For the last 3 weeks (18m regression perhaps?) he has woken in the night but then on getting him back to sleep, he wakes every single time I try and put him down in the cot, even when he seems fast asleep. Also when he wakes, he is standing up and screaming - thereโ€™s not even an attempt at getting himself back off like he used to.

He usually naps at around 12.30 for an hour and a half but on two occasions this week, he napped at about 10am for an hour and a half/2 hours and on those nights (having gone to bed at 7.30pm), heโ€™s woken and shouted a little but stayed lying down and got himself back to sleep again within a couple of minutes so I havenโ€™t had to get up and go into him!

Everything I read suggests toddlers his age need a lunchtime nap or a later one but could it be his early napping is the answer?! Just wondered if anyone else has an early napper? xx

I would check in his mouth for molars...they're usually the culprit! If not I'd play around with his naps aww if that works. My 18m old wakes up early so often can't quite make the lunch time nap but when he does, sleeps for about an hour or so. I try and keep him awake until after an early lunch as I find his naps are usually shorter of he falls asleep in the morning and then has a long time til bedtime!
