11 week old - sleep regression?

my little boy has always been a good sleeper since we brought him home and once he was over birth weight and we didn’t need to wake him he would do 6 hour stretches at night! he’s even done a 9 hour stretch before so never really struggled with day and night confusion. he’s still aware it’s nighttime at the moment as he goes straight back to sleep once i pick him up but he’s waking every 1.5-2 hours all of a sudden the last like week and i’m just not sure what the reason is as nothing else has changed and he doesn’t want feeding he just wakes and needs resettling! i don’t mind resettling him obviously i just wasn’t sure if this was the 4 month sleep regression? i know it can come between 3-5 months and he’s almost 3 months in just over a week and he was 2 weeks late so adjusted age would make him over 3 months so is that what this is??

Going to follow this with interest. My boy has always done a stint of 6-9 hours at night since he was about 7 weeks . He turned 12 weeks on Monday and since then has slept awful day and night. Last night was every 40mins to 1 hour.
if it is the regression fingers crossed it’ll end early for us both!

that’s exactly the same as my boy! anywhere between 6-9 hour stretches first thing at night for weeks now he won’t even do 2 hours really and his day time sleep is rubbish only naps for half an hour and that’s even if he’s kept on us for a contact nap he will still wake after half an hour! fingers crossed it’s something like that because otherwise i have no idea! my boy will be 12 weeks on saturday

Mines been feeding at every wake. I’m EBF though so not sure if that makes a difference.
Currently nap trapped now. I’m so tired I want to sleep, but I know the second I close my eyes he will wake up. So think I’ll opt for some chocolate and caffeine.
He’s my second child and I know sleep changes are always just a phase, but it’s still so tough when you’re living it!

i’m also nap trapped with a cup of tea and piece of cake so you’re not alone hahah! i do have to keep reminding myself it’s all a phase just not sure how/when they come out of regressions is there anything i need to be doing or will it just end when it ends??

He napped for 3 hours! Wish i’d had that nap. Fingers crossed tonight isn’t too bad for either of us. ☺️
I don’t think there is anything we can do to make a regression end. Just need to look after ourselves so we can ride it out for however long it takes!

chloejoy · 02/08/2023 23:48

hahah that’s always the way when you think it won’t be long enough for there to be a point having a nap they like the take the long ones hahah! i’m currently awake with little one he did 3 hours i’ve just resettled him after him waking up but 3 hours is better than 1.5 hours lol so we shall see fingers crossed. for the rest of the night

How was the rest of your night? We had a better night, but still not great. He woke every 30 mins between 10pm and 12am. Then woke at 5 for a feed before waking every hour until 8am. No decent nap test today either 🙄

chloejoy · 03/08/2023 15:42

he did every 2 hours after that first wake up so from about midnight then woke up at 2am then 4am then it was 5.30am and he was up for the day🙄 annoying but a bit better than the night before

I’m now in exactly the same boat as you both, did your LOs go back to sleeping for long stretches?

Haynesy · 03/01/2024 09:16

Sorry to hear you are going through the same thing too.
Good news and bad news….. he ended up sleeping for longer stretches again, but we were hit a month later by the 4 month sleep regression which lasted 2 months. It’s been a rollercoaster when it’s come to sleep to be honest!
He’s nearly 8 months now and sleeps pretty well.
