Hello,
I have a week old baby who was born 9 days early via CS. We are really struggling with sleep at night time.
At first I just thought he didn't like going in the moses basket or next to me crib as he had been in the womb and just needed time to adjust to the outside world.
But as I've observed him after feeds, I've noticed his legs scrunch up and stretch out, his back arches, he looks like he is in pain and he makes little grunting noises. Is this wind/gas? I make sure to burp him between and after breasts.
He generally sleeps much better during the day which I understand is normal but the night time is becoming so hard. I'm lucky to have dad around so we are currently tag teaming during the night so that I can get some sleep but if we put him in the moses basket, he wakes very quickly and the only way I can settle him is with a feed which means I am getting significantly less sleep. I am trying to nap during the day to help catch up. He sleeps very well on me and dad, usually in an upright position.
Does anyone have any advice on how to support a breastfed baby who shows signs of gas/wind but also struggles to sleep in a 'safe' place?
