Help with early wakes

Since the clocks changed my 3 year old started getting up between 6-7 rather than closer to 7. We thought that was bad enough but in the last month he is now getting up at 5-5.30.

we introduced a gro clock last week but doesn’t seem to be making any difference.

othet relevant information is that we are not sure what we are doing about napping. We had almost dropped the nap completely but he is having a nap again as he is just so exhausted because of early starts. He often visibly looks tired ie pale and emotional so we’ve had to let him nap during day.

also after sleeping through the night for like over a year he now seems to wake around 1pm. Because he’s now in toddler bed if he wakes even slightly he will come crashing through to our room half asleep (we moved to bed in last 6 months - I think when he was still in cot he would have found dummy and gone back to sleep)

he still uses a dummy for sleeping - we want to get rid of it but I just can’t get rid at the moment as sleep already disrupted.

i am really struggling to know what to do. I know some people will say don’t let him nap at all but we have cut out naps / limited naps for months and in that time the early wakes have got worse and we are all exhausted. I have also started a new job this month and am having to do this on what feels like minimal sleep.

In my experience, it's a phase. I've never found anything that helps. My 5 year old still wakes at 5am for a week at a time then will go back to sleeping until 6.45. She has a consistent routine, black out blinds, grow clock... Nothing changes except the time she wakes! Just an early riser. You just need to go to bed earlier unfortunately.

Nap wise, if he needs a nap, then let him. Overtiredness does worse things to sleep then a nap will!
