22 month weaning - won’t nap

Hi,

We are slowly weaning my little boy from breastfeeding. He only has a feed before sleep now so we thought we’d stop the nap feed first. So far he has refused to nap in his cot at nap time, not showing any tired signs and stayed awake all day. He’s so tired though and keeps falling asleep in his tea around 6pm. Does anyone have any tips on getting him to nap as he obviously still needs it - or even some solidarity that he will eventually find a new pattern?

Yes Dd dropped her naps around then, I shunted everything forward a bit so she was having dinner at 5, winding down for 6 and in bed by 6:30.

I would try and see if an earlier dinner/bedtime helps, and then go from there.

It's very common for toddlers to drop their nap around that age, mine did, and I agree with the pp that you need to move their dinner time to 5/5:30 and then start the bedtime routine. At that age they should really be asleep by 7/7:30 at the latest.
