Hi everyone, just looking to see if anyone else had a similar experience.
My DS dropped from three to two naps at around 6 months which i didnt think was unusual, but then this week at 7.5 months he dropped to one nap and just wont sleep in the morning! This seems WAY too soon but he just isnt tired and is still cheerful. His bedtime is still 7am even with one nap.

anyone else had their children drop naps so soon?

Mine dropped to two naps at 6 months too and that is actually earlier than average. Then he started the transition to one nap at 8 months, but it took 2 months so he wasn't consistently on one nap until 10 months which is still really early too!

I've never had a schedule for him and just followed his lead so would offer a nap when he seemed tired, and he started delaying the morning nap a bit and then just would not sleep in the afternoon. The schedule then ended up forming around the morning nap, and if he had it later and woke up from it after 12 noon he wouldn't have another nap but have a slightly earlier bedtime at around 6.30. If the morning nap was earlier and ended before midday then he would have a short cat nap in the afternoon and bedtime at 7-7.30. But he has always needed a longer time awake before bedtime than in the morning, so for us it ended up being the afternoon nap that was dropped and morning nap got later and longer, instead of skipping the morning nap.

Is he sleeping through for a good 11-12h with no wakes in thr night?

If yes, shouldn't be a massive issue to drop to one nap.

If no, you are dropping naps because sleep is challenging (but still needed), not because sleep isn't needed. Instead of giving up on the first nap, figure out what's wrong and fix it.

Thanks this is helpful,
yes its not so much a afternoon nap that he has kept but a late morning to early afternoon nap. Today was two naps again. I also am not strict on routine and follow his cues. Thanks!

My daughter dropped to 1 nap at 10 months, I was shocked! She's now 20 months and still on 1 nap.

7.5months does seem early but if he's in good form then he obviously doesn't need it. You have my sympathies!!
