Split nights

My second baby is just five months (Today actually!) and for the past few weeks we've been having split nights. She wakes up at around 1am or 2am, wide awake and will stay so for about two hours. She's not unhappy but is if I try and put her back down. Has anyone else had this, I've tried doing longer naps / shorter naps, changing bed times, morning etc. no joy yet. Any advice or experience appreciated?! Does it sound like part of the four month sleep regression, it's been going on for a while now! Zzzz

One of mine did this. I just took her downstairs, kept the lights dim, let her play for an hour or two but didn't interact more than I had to, then put her back down in the pram instead of her cot, and rocked her back to sleep, then I slept in the sofa next to her for the rest of the night. DH would get up with both kids in the morning so I could go back to bed and catch up on sleep. She grew out of it after a few months, started joining up the two night sleeps around 6/7 months I think (though was a very early riser for a long time after that - I think she just needed more time than some babies to manage a full 10-11 hour stretch). I would try not to fight it too much. Accept it, keep the night wakes quiet and dull for your baby, and, if you have a partner, get them to get up In the morning so you can top up your sleep if that's an option. It'll pass!
