2 year old sleep

Hi all

My 2 year old has never been a great sleeper but generally sleeps through (at the moment). Something has always been quite off in that by 9/10am he is absolutely shattered and if not at nursery, whether we are at home or at a playgroup he is pretty much inconsolable because he is shattered. I swear if I put him down for a nap at 9am he would sleep and I'm not sure what to do. It makes it so difficult to do anything or go anywhere in the mornings.

His routine is as follows:

Wakes around 6.30am
Mon-weds (nursery days,half days):nap 1.30-3-3
30pm
Thurs-sunday: nap 11am-1pm
Bath time 6.15-6.30
Story and bedtime:7pm
Actually asleep:7.30-8.30

People have advised cutting naps but he couldn't get through the day without them and feels so unnatural to wake him.

Basically my main issue/concern is that he is so exhausted before lunchtime and doesn't seem to match the behaviour of his peers.

Has anyone experienced this?

Yes, my little girl is also 2 now and still naps at around 11am. If she gets up too early (6am) she needs to nap at 9am.

I think that's how she is. Sometimes I worry she's low on vitamins or something though as she sleeps for ages.

@Snickers94 thanks for your reply. It makes it so difficult to go anywhere etc. I find im always making excuses not to make morning plans because of it. Not sure there is any solution other than sleeping more at night but obviously can't control this!
