Good evening, have any of your babies been tricky to get to sleep since they started crawling / walking? My May baby’s physical development is really coming on now and after a slowish start with crawling she is now crawling everywhere and walking when holding onto us. She can’t pull herself up yet but she is trying to all the time. She gets lots of time each day to move around, indoors and outside.

She was always quite straightforward to get to sleep, I would feed her until drowsy then she’d practically ask to go into her cot and fall asleep in a couple of minutes. This was after some gentle sleep training at 5 months. There have been difficult periods with separation anxiety, teething etc but on the whole she has been great. She doesn’t sleep through but we are planning on allowing her to night wean when she wants to.

However in the last week she has been springing awake every time we put her into the cot, at night and for naps, and crawling around the cot getting really excited, pointing and laughing etc. This is after she’s been really tired and yawning etc (but not overtired, we time things quite carefully), she just gets this sudden burst of energy. I generally then pick her up and cuddle her to sleep, holding her for 5 mins after she drops off the transferring her to the cot, and for now this is working well. She is fine to be fed and go back to sleep overnight 🤞🏻.

Have any of your babies been through this and is it just a phase? Any advice would be much appreciated as it’s making me anxious and I don’t want to get frustrated.

Thanks in advance xx

Yes… my baby can’t quite crawl yet (he’s close) but he likes doing doughnuts and he goes absolutely mad in the cot when I put him down. I don’t have a magic solution I turn the light off and put white noise on. Then I keep popping his dummy back in. Eventually he does go to sleep!
