Toddler sleep needs changing or the heat?

Ds1 is 3 in a couple weeks and has been getting up 5-5:30am the last week.

He's always taken ages to switch off before naps and night time sleep, but once sleeping, sleeps a while. He dropped his nap at 2 years old, and we moved to a predictable, solid 11-12 hours 7-7, usually, and going to sleep within 10 minutes.

He's always been one to drop naps quicker than the average and I'm wondering are his sleep needs changing again? Or is this the heat? He has been going to sleep between 7:30-8 (taking ages to fall asleep again), and waking 5-5:30.

We've had a heatwave since Monday here. Do you think I need to change his pattern (later bedtime) or is this the heat and it'll pass?

Thanks all

My Ds is 3 ( just also).
He doesn’t sleep anywhere near 12hrs. Usually 9pm-6am on a good day ( often less and with wake ups). No nap either

He literally had his 3 year check up yesterday, and when asked about sleep I said he often only gets around 8-9hrs and the paediatrician said it’s normal and very few children actually need or get this mythical 12hrs.

I would move bedtime to 8-8.30pm for the summer, and see how it goes. It’s likely to be slightly cooler later also, and he can wear some more energy out after dinner in garden when not so hot.

My DD is nearly 3 and I was thinking like you. But I've been persevering with a consistent routine and she's sleeping nearly 12 hours solid now for the first time in her life. I think summer massively messes with her body clock. She was getting up at 4.30 for ages. There is a marked difference in how she is when she gets up now too, bright as a button which shows me she's getting enough sleep.
