DS is 6.5 months and until about a month ago he was a wonderful sleeper. Since 9 weeks he had slept 6/7pm - 6/7am with usually one wake up to feed at 4am.
Suddenly (and it was very sudden!) he wakes soon after he's put down after feeding to sleep (sometimes straight away, sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes we might get 15) and he won't stay asleep unless he's being held.
He sleeps in our room with his cot next to the bed (not side carred). The disrupted sleep started to happen when he was still in his Next2Me but we had to change to a normal cot because he outgrew the Next2Me in length and weight. We have a blackout blind, pink noise and a red nightlight so I can see while I'm feeding.
He used to sleep the first part of the night in a sleepyhead/dockatot on the sofa next to me until we went up to bed but that's not so safe now he can roll. That said, I tried it a couple of nights ago (and watched him like a hawk) and he slept for several hours in there, so he's obviously more settled in it than his cot.
I've been tracking his sleep, just to know how much he's getting and it's only been 9-10 hours a day recently, because of short naps. The internet says 6 month olds usually need 14 hours of sleep, 11-12 of which are overnight. So is my boy actually chronically overtired? I would have expected him to be cranky if he was, but during the day he's the happiest little chap. Just a fan of a cat nap (which I know is normal at this age). He likes to take his longest nap late afternoon if given the chance but I don't think 2-3 hours of sleep a couple of hours before bedtime can be helping. I tried moving bedtime later )it's currently 7:30/8pm) but he got tired and cranky. I've tried moving it earlier but he just woke up earlier.
Is my day schedule off? Is he not getting enough sleep? Is feeding to sleep an issue? Is it just one of those things?!
