Bumpers in cots

I'm well aware of the form advice against cot bumpers and have happily taken the advice. However ds is now one and every night is banging his head (in his sleep) against the sides and top of the cot. Are bumpers still seen as a risk at his age? If so, are there any alternative methods to protect his head?

Yes they are still a risk, some feel more so as babies use them to try to climb and can become entangled.
If he’s hurting himself you could try a floor bed, just ensure his room is safe for him to explore.
