My 2yo has always been amazing at sleeping, in her cot, however a few months ago we transitioned to a bed as she could climb out the cot. Ever since bed time has been such a struggle!
She's great at the bed time routine (starting around 6/6.30); bath, warm milk, PJs, story, kisses...but when it comes to going to sleep in bed she suddenly is wide awake. I know it must be exciting now being in her 'big girl room' and being able to get out of bed and get to her books and toys but I'm struggling with the situation and now I'm running out of ideas for what to try.
We've tried:
- leaving the room and then taking her back to her bed when she comes out
- leaving her to play or read in her room, thinking she'll just fall asleep when ever
- sitting with her until she falls asleep
- cuddling her in her bed until she falls asleep
- sticker reward chart (she gets a sticker for each getting ready for bed activity and then a sticker if she goes to sleep in bed without a fuss)
Nothing is working, for a few nights we've returned to taking her for a drive to get her to fall asleep, like we did sometime when she was a baby.
It's taking us a minimum of 3 hours from starting getting her ready for bed, there's no time for us to have time as a couple and we're getting so fed up that we're snapping at each other.
Please can someone suggest something else I can try!!
Or has anyone been through something like this and can reassure me that one day I'll actually be able to have a relaxing evening with my hubby again....
TIA!!!
