For those who sleep trained - how do you do it with their older sibling in the house?

I have a 5y DS and a 7m DD - she has recently gone into her own room next to DS's room. I don't feel it's fair for him to be right next door trying to go to sleep himself while we do any kind of Ferber style sleep training. She cries at bedtime every evening at the moment anyway as she resists being put down and he hates the crying... All going well, sleep training would only take a couple of nights - but just wondering what other people did?

Good luck, never known out to only take a few nights, if it was that easy, no one would moan about kids not sleeping.

Can you do it over a weekend and your 5yo stay elsewhere/with grandparents? The first night or 2 likely to be the most disruptive. Or if not at least they could lie in a bit in the mornings and have a more chilled out day. Also....if there's lots of crying anyway it may not be so different for them, maybe explain in an age appropriate way what you're doing to manage their worries. Good luck!
