5mo sleep struggles!

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any ideas about what to do!
My nearly 5mo has gone through 4m sleep regression and nights are generally looking calmer with 2/3 feeds rather than the 11+ wake ups a night we've had over the last 8 weeks.
However, he now no longer likes being held or rocked to sleep for naps, and only settles himself in cot for his morning naps (no sleep training done, just kind of has worked this out by himself) and can't yet consistently settle himself during his afternoon ones so left struggling with a baby who doesn't want to be held, rocked or left alone for afternoon naps or bedtime! He cries when rocked and held and cries when lying next to me and cries when popped in cot. I'm sticking to all his appropriate wake windows for his age and am just running out of ideas as hate to see him cry and struggle.
Has anyone else experienced this? If so, what worked for you?
I really do not want to do any sleep training involving crying but I realise this is likely unrealistic and he's crying anyway 😢

Hi, well done on baby self settling! Is a real battle for most people.

I don't really have the answer but I do know that the afternoon naps/last nap is always the hardest to settle for and most babies won't self settle for them. Will he sleep in the pram for the afternoon one?

My dd is 6mo and recently sleep trained. Will fall asleep ok for first nap but second one always takes longer with a bit of whinging. I do 3rd nap in the pram.

If he's upset either way I'd probably leave him to self settle (with cuddles when really upset) or shush pat if he'll tolerate that? Does he have a comforter?

@Geranium1984 Hi, thanks- can't really take any credit though, DS has figured it out by himself 😂

Good idea to pop him in the pram. Normally I do a morning walk but I have done pram/drive for last 2 for the last few days (he's still on 4-5 naps a day as only sleeps for 45mins max) and its helped so much/atleast made me feel less confused aimlessly rocking in the dark! Thank you. Xx
