7 months - changing naps around to help night sleep

Hi everyone, has anyone had any success improving night sleep by switching nap patterns from medium/medium to short/long?

Our nearly 7m old DD has been waking tons at night and we're at breaking point. Considering sleep training but before doing anything I've talked to a sleep consultant who recommended capping her morning nap to 30mins then encouraging a long lunch nap. Then an early bedtime of 6.30pm or so, so baby isn't too tired by bedtime.

DD has recently started resisting her third nap and it was pushing bedtime really late so we switched to two naps and she started naturally doing a long 2hr midmorning nap around 10am. Then a 1hr nap in the early afternoon.

The consultant explained the long morning nap and short afternoon nap result in an overtired baby at bedtime (and false starts in the following hours), and in early morning wakes round 5am.

I'm reluctant to interfere when DD is napping but if this is what works to support a good night's sleep then I'll do it!
