How do you nightwean?

my 8mo baby has 1 (breast)feed a night, but I’m beginning to suspect this feed is a) only for comfort and b) causing him more sleep disruption. Doing the night feed doesn’t really bother me but I think if I can nightwean him he’ll actually sleep better which will be better for him.

anyone know how you go about it? Do I try a transitional stage and get DP to go and resettle him instead? Or just go cold Turkey?

NB he won’t take a bottle so can’t try the water trick or anything like that.

Hi

I thought I'd share my experience.
I night weaned and just got dh to put our son to bed and he then settled him if he woke up.

Up until one it's generally thought that they do need both the calories and the reassurance that you're there looking out for them.

If you do want to do it now though, and there's no judgment from me, have a look at Dr Jay Gordon's Gentle Night Weaning method.
