Holiday sleeping arrangements - help!

My toddler will be nearly 2 but is still in a cot at home at the moment. We are going away in a month, and he is slightly too small for his travel cot - testing it tonight to see how he gets on. We can put him on a single mattress on the floor but the accomodation doesn't have stairgates. what have you used to surround the mattress to protect them??

I've also looked at travel stair gates but don't think they're any good. He's a wriggler and I know if he can get up and out.... He will 😂

Just stick him in a single, and use a monitor to alert you if he tries to go adventuring.

When my child was two I did travel cot and this year we went away and he's almost 3. I did single bed and put pillows down for if he fell out of the bed.

we had this problem and we dc in a single bed with the accommodation’s sore duvet and bedspread on the floor in case he fell out (he didn’t) and we put a dining chair and a large suitcase on its side across the top of the stairs - we could move them quietly to go up to bed, but we would have heard if our dc was pushing them around the tiled floor of our holiday villa (so he couldn’t have got downstairs by moving the obstacles or fallen down because the gap was blocked.

Spare not sore!

Roll up a large towel or blanket and put it under the sheet so he can't roll off the bed. Works really well
