Hi all, I'm just looking for some advice. I had my first child on the 1st of this month so pretty new to all of this. She is 4 weeks old and has suddenly started sleeping so much of the day, last night she slept through the whole night, I woke her at 4:30 to give her a bottle but has been feeding ok apart from that. She just seems so sleepy all of a sudden. She's had plenty of wet/dirty nappies. But will keep making straining noises and seems frustrated like she's pushing. Has anyone else experienced this? My anxiety is through the roof.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

She’s probably having a growth spurt. No two days are the same when they’re tiny. And babies sleep A LOT at that age. That said, trust your instincts and don’t be afraid of calling your health visitor / midwife / GP for advice. You’re doing great!

Yeah she is probably growing. Babies should sleep a lot at 4 weeks. Try not to panic. The straining is normal I find, until they're a bit older.

Thank you both so much! I really appreciate your replies, its just so hard when you don't know what to expect! I did wonder whether it was a growth spurt, but will definitely call out should anything change x

It's really hard isn't it. Great and awful at the same time!
