When should I ditch the swaddle?

Baby is 12 weeks old today!

My eldest was already in a sleeping bag by this age. Don't know why I decided to transition him out of the swaddle already as he wasn't rolling yet, probably as he was a bit of a chunkier baby.

DS2 is a bit smaller than my eldest was and is still swaddled. Not showing signs of rolling yet. Shall I stick with the swaddle or start to consider the transition to sleeping bag? Keep reading mixed things!

Mine was swaddled until she was about 5/6 months tbh. She just wouldn’t settle without it. I used a breathing monitor and she was in the same room as me though. I think we went cold turkey on it in the end and just put her in the sleeping bag

Just put him in a sleep sac when he starts to roll x

I'd transition now before summer when they'll surely start getting too hot in a swaddle and risk over heating?!

Mine is 4.5 months and has started to roll from tummy to back but can't do the other way yet. I think once they start showing signs of it then I'd stop. You can wean them off gradually one arm at a time.

I don't like swaddles as I keep thinking how unpleasant it must be for a baby to feel trapped and not be able to move it's arms. Maybe I overthink.
