I've never posted here before but I cant find anything relating to this. I have twin 16mo boys who at around five months: one started sleeping through the night, the other would wake up for milk around 11pm. I assumed he would drop that feed and also start sleeping through. HAHAHA. Anyway, what actually happened is at around six months he started waking up in the night multiple times screaming and I mean he was just inconsolable. I would have to walk around with him, sometimes take him in the garden, just these weird attacks usually only one a night if memory serves. It was awful. The HV suggested maybe it was teeth because before they come in she said they can move around in the jaw to get in to place which is very painful (and insane). His first teeth came through at five months so I kind of bought that but it was just so strange. By the way if you've made it even this far congratulations. I'm not convinced anyone will be bored enough to read all of this. Ha! Anyway it set in motion a pattern of very poor sleep. I cant remember now how long the screaming went on for but it was a few weeks at least. But after that stopped, he would just wake up multiple times a night and I would need to put his dummy back in and he would usually go right back to sleep but this was like five or six times a night so at ten months we tried the Ferber method of sleep training. It was ok for a week but then they hit a regression and got sick and it all just went out the window. His sleep got worse and worse. He's quite clingy to me over his dad (do I have to say DH??) And there is definitely separation anxiety stuff going on with him. But it got to the point at 15 months his sleep was actually getting worse. Worse than when he was a newborn even. He was still waking up five or six times a night and on a bad hight would only sleep on my chest. So we did the sleep training again and it worked after three flipping days. It was horrible but I absolutely had to by this point. Anyway, cut to now 16 months on Sunday and tonight the inconsolable screaming has started again. For an hour! He was there but not there, awake but not, able to shake his head "no I don't want water" but just crying and writhing and now he's laying in the bed beside me and im laying here thinking what the hell is going on with him. Surely that isn't just normal. But I can't find anything that matches. It can't be teething as he's cut all his teeth now except his second molars (early bird with the teeth I know). I just want to know what is up with my beautiful boy. And if you're wondering and you've got this far my god you deserve to know (I swear this is the short version as well) no, he doesn't wake up his twin. Well very rarely anyway, it has happened as they sleep in the same bed though so it's usually something physical that would wake them up. Maybe because we did the sleep training bit in the same room. Or maybe because he's just used it his brother screaming in his ear, so he just doesn't bother to wake up. Clearly the sensible one. Anyway I know this is probably insanely niche and won't get read, never mind replied to but if anyone is reading and has experienced anything remotely similar and has advice I am really all ears because this is so strange to me. Thank you for coming to my ted talk
