My 16 month old will not go to sleep no matter what we try, we have tried sleep training, we have tried sitting with him and shhhing and patting his bum, rocking him, cuddling him etc NOTHING works :(!! He has his own toddler bed in his own room so can get in and out of his bed. any tips?

I mean, he must sleep at some point? How does that eventually happen?

Firstbaby1234 · 13/04/2023 21:09

At about 11pm after a lot of patting and shhhing which isn’t ideal going to bed at 11pm

What are his day naps like? What time is his last nap?

I used to read and read and read sat next to them. Felt less frustrating for me. Used a more and more slow and calm voice.

Milk, bananas and turkey are meant to help sleep.

@Daisy20111 he has 1 nap a day and it’s normally around 12ish for between 1 hour and an hour and a half

The nap shouldn't effect things then. Does he just wake up really late in the morning so he gets enough sleep? Is it a matter of trying to move things so he wakes up earlier in the morning so then he's more tired at night?

Firstbaby1234 · 14/04/2023 07:13

@Daisy20111 he wakes up at half 7 in the morning and he goes to nursery 3 days out of the week so should be tired! He used to go to bed at half 7 and sleep through but the past couple of weeks he doesn’t want to go to sleep at all. He finally went off at 10.30 last night

Look up the back to bed technique on you tube by the 3 day nanny. Bath story bed at 7. Begin the back to bed. Stick to it for 3 nights and your problem will be solved (if you stick to it just as she says) Good luck
